What we hold about you, and why

Short, because there is not much. An account is an email address and a company name; there are no trackers on this site and nothing is sold on.

Who is responsible

Import Registry Africa is a trading name of Tradyon VOF, Molenweg 30, 3223 AE Hellevoetsluis, the Netherlands, registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce under 99694980. That is the controller of the personal data described here. Write to tim@importregistryafrica.com.

What we collect, and what for

  • —Your account. Your email address, to sign you in by link, and your company, name and country, which we ask before a first purchase so an invoice can name a company. Role, phone number and what you export are optional. We use these to invoice you, to answer you, and to know who is buying. Basis: performing the contract with you, and our legitimate interest in knowing our customers.
  • —The forwarder introduction. Only if you tick the box on your profile do we pass your company and contact details to a freight forwarder who ships to these markets, so they can quote. That is consent; untick it on your profile at any time and nothing further is passed on.
  • —Orders. Which dossier you bought, when, and the amount. Payment itself is handled by Stripe: card and bank details never reach our server. Basis: the contract, and the legal duty to keep accounts.
  • —Technical. One cookie, ira_session, keeps you signed in for thirty days; it holds a random token and nothing about you. The web server keeps request logs with IP addresses for fourteen days, for security. There are no analytics, no advertising cookies and no third-party scripts on this site, so there is no cookie banner either.
  • —Where you came from. If you reached us from an advertisement or a link, the address you arrived at carried a few parameters — Google's click identifier, or a campaign name. We write those down once, with your account, so we know which of our own efforts brought you. Nothing is stored in your browser to do this, nothing is read from other sites, and it is never used to profile you. Basis: our legitimate interest in knowing what works.

Who processes it for us

  • —Stripe — payments and receipts.
  • —Resend — delivers the sign-in link and the receipt to your inbox.
  • —Hetzner Online GmbH, Germany — hosts the server.

Stripe and Resend operate partly outside the European Economic Area, under the standard contractual clauses the European Commission has approved. Nobody else receives your data, and it is never sold or added to a mailing list.

How long

  • —Your account, for as long as you want it. Ask and we delete it.
  • —Order and invoice records, seven years — Dutch tax law requires it.
  • —Server logs, fourteen days.

Your rights

You can ask what we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, object to how we use it, or have it handed to you in a file. One email to tim@importregistryafrica.com does it; we answer within a month, usually within days. If you think we have handled your data badly you can complain to the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.

The register data itself

The companies on this site come from registers that national food and drug authorities publish, and the contact details shown are the ones those authorities publish with them. Most of it concerns companies, not people. If you are a sole trader whose name or number appears in one of these registers and you would rather it did not appear in our copy, write to tim@importregistryafrica.com: we mask it and note the date we did. See also what we say to the authorities.

Changes

When this page changes, the date at the top changes with it. Nothing here is changed retroactively.
